Do you have a budget and do you have a mic or would you prefer one that’s integrated? General rec is tascam, marantz, or Sonyhttps://tascam.com/us/product/dr-07x/top …

Cheap! Ok. You said you have a pc, do you have a mic that you can plug into it? Audacity is free and will record as long as you want.

Yep several. So yeah looks like that’s what I’ll be doing. Somebody else suggested that with low bit rate and direct save to mp3

For recording simple ticks? sure. 12 hours of mp3 will be about 800mb. I’m sure there’s software to easily do that (maybe VLC?) but i’m not sure what app might do that for you.

Sox likely will, but it’s only got a CLI that might not be worth it for single use.

Have you looked into how long phone voice recorder apps will record?

No, but that’s something I’m not sure I want to use since I need my phone for other stuff

Yeah, just grab Sox. It’s FOSS and the help files have recipes for recording directly to whatever format you want. Are you comfortable using command line?https://sourceforge.net/projects/sox/
