Starting to notice the sheer number of things that can’t be disassembled without breaking. Is there a design term for this?

Yes, check under the feet, and they also sell these things called spudgers (horrible name imo, but it's a little pry tool) that you can use to go around the edges of a seal to gently nudge it off any plastic tabs. Used in phone/computer repair.

You give up too easily. Pull the rubber feet off and see if they are hiding a screw. If not, drill out through the plastic.

Also check for clips around the circumference, you may be able to pry it apart with a coin.
