There's a very simple litmus test for whether an idea is right or left of center. If someone is trying to convince you that you have more agency than you think, it's rightist. If they're trying to convince you that you have less agency than you think, it's leftist. Both bad.

Actual leftism is about increasing agency, specifically by linking up personal agency with that of larger groups. If it doesn't do that, it's not leftism, just despairing and whining (which is what a lot of what passes for leftism these days is, tbs)

But note my litmus test is about what you try to persuade people to believe. Telling people they have less than they think (ie that they are under illusion of agency) is not inconsistent with saying you want to get them more
