There's a very simple litmus test for whether an idea is right or left of center. If someone is trying to convince you that you have more agency than you think, it's rightist. If they're trying to convince you that you have less agency than you think, it's leftist. Both bad.

So, between the beggar and the emperor lies a continuum of relatively left or right wing ideas. Are those ideas wrong, or are only those on the extremes wrong or - they are just wrong for the particular person? If so, must a low-agency person by definition be left wing?

A low-agency person who wants low agency (true of many religious conservatives who surrender a lot of agency to church for eg) is not going to be necessarily left wing. A high-agency person who wants high-agency could be left too, if they want to use agency for public welfare.
