Major disasters lead to a surge in salvage/repair. Junkyards the future will be more ebay store front/amazon vendor style with itemization to be successful. The days of junkyard/antique exploring are numbered.

yeah, I think I've only been to a handful of yard sales and never bought anything at one that I can recall. It's really hard to dig for the good stuff. Otoh, a big problem with making junk inventory more legible is that it might cost more to track it than you'd make selling it

Therein lies the maker's opportunity. I'd imagine object recognition machine code with some version of a QR scanner app. Seems that ability is there if form has not yet been made. I got out of code when I sold my 486 DX...so someone else can hop on it.
