“Never seen anything like it” is rapidly climbing my list of top most annoying phrases. Why is your set of “things I’ve seen” worth anything? Without qualification of scope and earned experience, “things I’ve seen” sets are like assholes. Everyone’s got one.

In a culture where we default to a future that is a neat extension of the past, 'never seen anything like it' is destabilising - we don't have priors to rely on and are (generally) poorly equipped to make sense if it. Any less annoying read as 'I don't know what to do with it'?
