Why d'you date the first wave from BCG in 1963 and not McKinsey & Co earlier?
Also I'd say a good chunk of your second wave is just improved instant coffee (and/or an early burst of Italian-led coffee shops? We had that in the UK in the 60s).
See Lords of Strategy by Walter Kiechel. McKinsey existed but didn't really start strategy practice as a consulting function until BCG made it a thing. They were more ops wonk grunts or something.
