Oh wait, my bad, I don't think this part (blue) is actually vase), since it's kinda like 2 nested vases where the cross-section breaks. My bad.

Grr. Figured out how to position parts for assembly in OnShape, but when I select surfaces for mating, it flips one of the parts wtf.

Soon I'll have enough experience to get and actually do the sort of entry-level mechanical engineering job I was theoretically credentialed and qualified for in 1997.

Seriously though, if this kind of capability had been available when I was in undergrad, I'd probably have a) become a much better mechanical engineer b) enjoyed it more c) stayed in the field. The freemium CAD + cheap 3d printer rapid prototyping loop is addictive.

I'm literally neglecting/procrastinating on money-making consulting and writing work right now to play with this stuff.

I mean, shit, mechanical engineering has an REPL now. It's like hours instead of seconds, but it used to be weeks/months. The one part I designed and had fabricated for grad school research work took weeks to get (a simple steel disc with 4 slots in it)
