Success! 3d printed the lost telescope cap cover! With vanity logo too 😎 The tolerance is a little off, so it’s not quite a snug interference fit. Wondering whether to reprint or use this with a bit of tape or something to line it for a snug fit.

Okay with cooling it's loose enough it falls out. Anyone know how to measure a tiny gap so I can adjust the dimensions for a better fit? Also how much of an interference is good for PLA?

Printed version 2 which fits snugly (had to sand a bit... but I’m not printing V3... I know when to quit). Just need to print and glue on a handle. Needed 2 parts due to overhang

I'm reprinting, just to see if I have enough control over tolerances. Adding 0.5 mm to 2 diameters, and the Cura slice settings say my print res is 0.2188mm (fast). So it'll be interesting... my interference fit range is within tolerance range of print. I can go as fine as 0.0437

black tape rimmed along the edge until you have a flush fit. the tape will compress over time so you may need to reapply it once or twice. don't bother reprinting, you'll get stuck in a rabbit hole of millimeter optimization for a simple one-time part replacement

Detent bumps are more forgiving. Just put 3-4 tiny bumps around the perimeter. The wall will flex like a spring.

I’ve trial and errored it, mostly. Just bump up the size a percentage point or two and see, essentially. A bit wasteful, but it does work.
