I’m amused by how this idea keeps cropping up. I’ve concluded it’s unworkable because these communities don’t actually exist as the clean sets people imagine. They’re leaky fuzzy small world groupings which lack sufficient consensus. You can get to n=10 at most without going cult

Has anyone figured out the move with all your friends to a small city and live on the same street thing?

IME, 95-98% of the people who say this, at some subconscious level they know that truth is that they would end up hating their friends. 😂 or that it's not worth the trouble most people don't really care about wanting to do this, they just want to say it to feel nice

At this point in my life, I don’t want to live in the same house as my friends (barring some surprising circumstance), but neighbors seems like mostly just upside? We know our downstairs neighbor, and we don’t see him much, but I’m glad I know him!
