I should have learned how to do this 4 years ago, but this morning I will use my new power drill to anchor bookcases to studs in the wall IT’S TOOL TIME BITCHES

ugh rookie mistake, stripped a screw that’s half in 🤦🏻‍♀️ was trying to work in small space reaching up. I should have made more space and gotten on ladder to push straight in

I would have liked to tell my ultra-handy dad the story of stripping screws, missing studs, mis-sized pilot holes, etc. We could have traded DIY war stories.

I actually avoid drilling anchors for things like bookshelves into studs. Stud anchoring feels a bit too heavy duty to me, so I rely on overloading lower shelves, and drywall anchors... and generally going for shorter furniture.

unfortunately it was necessary for these (allegedly), they are to prevent or I guess at least slow the disaster that ensues if a child climbs the bookcase

we have several small bookcases that I never bothered anchoring and feel ok about that but two that go almost to the ceiling and my baby son is turning out to be a climber
