Feels like many people are identity-threatened by their first instincts on anything being questioned. Their instincts define who they are, not just an initial hypothesis to be tested and iteratively refined.

I’m a super instinct-driven person. I’m just not attached to instinct moves and can pivot them when they don’t work. I’m also not bothered by my instincts being challenged, and willing to bet on opposed ones. The point is not that they have instincts but are attached to them.
