Feels like many people are identity-threatened by their first instincts on anything being questioned. Their instincts define who they are, not just an initial hypothesis to be tested and iteratively refined.

Could be true, because the myth is largely created in the secondary market of self help gurus and storytellers to sell books or get views. But I’m curious, do you think there is an overarching modus operandi amongst the greats if so what do you think it is? Is it domain specific?
