Thinking about desks I've had over the years. I had an actual L-shaped desk for home office for several years (I think 2004-09) and 2 cheap desks in L-config for several more years. Single desk for the last year. Now going back to L with a twist: second leg will be a workbench.

My advice as a contractor - get a “Gladiator” workbench. Not cheap but it’s built like a bunker. The racks are also equally well made. If IKEA crap is 3/10 (quality / ease of construction), these would be 10/10, as most elements interlock or come prefab.http://www.gladiatorgarageworks.com

I have a home office in an apartment room, not a house with a garage :D

So what? Go industrial. The workbench looks better than a John Boos kitchen table. Get the smaller model. It’s adjustible (just no incline). I sound like a vaccuum cleaner salesmen, but this is one of the few products that’s better than advertised.
