I’m guessing even if Obama or Hillary or GWB has been in charge it would have been the worst developed nation outcome by a mile. This thing strikes the US right at it’s weakest point (which is also its strongest point in other ways)

Though the sensitivity to dumb actions at the margins is high. So I’d guess Trump is responsible for more deaths than his share of overall blame. Because system is set up to magnify POTUS mistakes.

I'm struggling to fit Brazil in this model. I guess values play a big part, especially when comparing with neighbors, but I think the transmission must come from people with basic survival needs (in the 3rd wld factor). Funny the impact isn't the same in Thailand or Indonesia tho
