Trump’s actions against the USPS I think go beyond voter suppression to stochastic terrorism.

GWB vs Gore could be considered within the realm of benefit of doubt. This cannot. Mail-in voting offers enough leverage at the margins that increased friction could change not-even-close outcomes.

Trump supporters who condone this go from being merely a structurally advantaged minority under the constitution to accessories to de facto treason. If you don’t believe your opponents should have the best possible chance to vote, you’re not democratic.

"If you don’t believe your opponents should have the best possible chance to vote, you’re not democratic." This is not what anyone believes, and I hope not you--the election process is an eternal balancing act between convenience and risk--it's just a security play.

Like, we could make an SMS-based voting system, through which I imagine we could imbue millions of marginal voters into the phone booth. But we would never do that, because the risk of fraud skyrockets.

Nobody is talking about SMS voting or even about extensions to existing levels of mail-in voting (entirely reasonable and feasible accommodation of a pandemic). We’re talking about deliberate *reduction* of postal system capabilities during a crucial election year.

Oh, gotcha. But what does the election have to do with the postal disruptions? I saw those pics of the trucks carry blue boxes and tweets about sorting machines being sold. But the latest from Reuters on the issue (https://www.reuters.com/article/us-usa-election-post-congress/us-postal-service-watchdog-investigating-reports-of-service-disruptions-senator-idUSKCN25A2U0 …) says needs to be investigated

I’m not debating you dude. We both know where our sympathies and hostilities lie, and where we’re inclined to put the benefits of doubts. I’m just being open about mine.
