I like the basic concept of the Tile (smart tag everything that could get lost) but the non-rechargeable battery bottleneck and replacement schedule kill it for me. There’s gotta be a better way to do this.

Latest Tiles have replaceable batteries so if by "ambient energy" you mean "absorb new batteries from the immediate environment when you insert them" then yes. Otherwise no.
