Found my astronomy binoculars’ tripod adapter so my balcony observatory capability just went up a notch (it’s too big and heavy at 70mm to use comfortably in handheld mode for long). Next stop iPhone astro photos. Sample turned out ok. Was struggling to do this without tripod.

Just ordered a phone adapter that should work for both binoculars and telescope but best I could do with my telescope so far is this crappy moonshot

This is with my newly acquired 4.5’ Newtonian. My goal is to get good enough to get Mars photos at opposition (October) and Saturn/Jupiter grand conjunction in December.

Experiments continued. iPhone at 10x software zoom, iPhone at 1x, binoculars at 15x, iPhone at 2x, binoculars at 15x (so 30x effectively?)

the thing in the link is just a tube so if that is what stops you dont worry about getting a no name one. you will almost certainly need a barlow lens though to reach focus on that scope though. also keep in mind you will need an EOS "T-ring" to go from that tube to your cam
