How come there's no concept of "embarrassingly serial" problems? Problems where the stages are so well decoupled, and stage-gate QA checks so perfect, there's almost no need for recirculation/rework flows. Stage gates are one-way doors, processing is entirely feedforward.

There's no tidy antonym, but the general concept is algorithms that have a look carried dependency. There's a lot of literature that goes into detail over how to parallelize these to the extent possible.
