Subprime text crisis. I’m amused but not impressed by the evolution of GPT. Once I saw the ways in which it was failing, the spell broke.https://twitter.com/atthatmatt/status/1284682407270969344 …

It passes a casual Turing test, but not an attentive test focusing on capacity to reference reality. This thing lives in human mangaate pattern space, not the world. http://lacker.io/ai/2020/07/06/giving-gpt-3-a-turing-test.html …pic.twitter.com/M8eNf5e86c

Calling this intelligence strikes me as similar to calling a mirror intelligent or a camera artistic. There’s a category error here. It’s not moving the goalposts. It’s pointing out that a videotape of a soccer game is not a soccer fame.pic.twitter.com/9G7zoYZSO8

That said, this is one half of something interesting. The other half is an autonomous feedback loop with the open world. If this can push its own scope boundary then we’re cooking. Plug this into a Boston dynamics robot and it’ll get interesting.

Yep. But I’ll accept “make money to pay for its own rent and electricity and maintenance” as a proxy. It needs to rent a storage unit at least to live in.
