Calling this intelligence strikes me as similar to calling a mirror intelligent or a camera artistic. There’s a category error here. It’s not moving the goalposts. It’s pointing out that a videotape of a soccer game is not a soccer fame.

That said, this is one half of something interesting. The other half is an autonomous feedback loop with the open world. If this can push its own scope boundary then we’re cooking. Plug this into a Boston dynamics robot and it’ll get interesting.

I might bet money, however, that the GRU bots disrupting Twitter debates are running on GPT or something like it. It might not be necessary to engage successfully with the real world to do significant damage on Twitter.
