Random thought: a communist country is like a curse of resources country except the resources are people. China is the Saudi Arabia of people.

World needs to wean itself off China, same as with Saudi. Transition off high-carbon energy and low-freedom Chinese labor. Using a cursed resource always has costly externalities.

I’m starting to suspect the Chinese way is worse than the Soviet way, and when it collapses, the fallout will be far worse. I’m guessing 2030-35. The pseudo capitalist economics creates a false sense of security.

Possibly earlier if they continue on their accelerated aggression roadmap.

Kinda easy to forget that Hong Kong transfer was 23 years ago, so it’s not exactly a rapid reeling in. An HK generation has grown up post UK withdrawal. Still it’s like 90% of the reeling in has happened in the last year. Slowly then suddenly.

The American system lasted about 150 years. The Soviet system about 70 years. The Chinese system will last perhaps 50. There are no permanent systems. Only permanent problems.

Yep, I’m close to writing off the American system too. It’s not a 2 systems world, it’s a 0 systems world. We’re starting from scratch. Send me bitcoin to fund my plan to engineer a fresh start. There will be mansions.

This is just not true. World trade as a fraction of GDP was simply not that high for most of history. It’s gone up by an order of magnitude in a few centuries. Like 5-50%. And historically no country had high-tech communist level control of its population ourworldindata.org/trade-and-glob
