Pain doesn't have to be rational. I remember reading a study that said more people commit suicide due to daily inconvenience like back problems than due to traumatic events like the loss of a loved one. In practice, what's "worse" is just whatever one lacks the tools to deal with

I think that trying to quantify and compare hurt is only useful as a way to understand and improve on actions. I’m much more in favor of asking how to hold all hurts and boundaries as important while working towards less hurt all around.

You can’t, and even if you begin to start, people will start mimicking the signal until signal from noise is indistinguishable yet again. As long as there is an incentive for being a victim (whether you are one or not) people will act like victims.

No, this is way too cynical. The vast majority of people have a strong dignity drive and don’t like to ask for help. Don’t let a few professional victim types drive your defaults here. They’re not as hard to filter out as people think. It’s mainly a conservative moral panic.
