That for sure. I am not following the the situation in all the world, but in the countries I know more about besides the US (Italy, Canada, UK) they made mistakes but never had to deal with the kind of polarization about simple things that we see in the US.
As with respect to numeracy, it might be interesting to compare this map with maps of the virus cases and deaths. Obvious that any correlations would not necessarily imply causation.
