An unfortunate thing I’m noticing is that Very Online culture is a few years ahead of the zeitgeist but this prescience is bought at the price of terminal cluelessness about how things get done in orgs because VO people are disproportionately clueless at work.

the internet is a bullshit-only workplace with no rules or bosses but it works out because nobody gets paid
downside is you don’t learn workplace skills no matter how sophisticated your edgelord skills get

I like this "Very Online" term. Nails it. Also, I think it's hard for VO folks to actually get much done or be very productive if all they are is VO.
Far better, but for some, harder: OO (occasionally online).

Do you foresee a future in which so much work is done online that Very Online people will see their disadvantage reduced or even eliminated?
