Once you decide on an action, try giving up the goal and materially unnecessary assumptions and check if action gut-feels valuable by itself.
Example:
Action: carry umbrella
Goal: stay dry
Unnecessary assumption: it is raining/will rain
Monkey say: Still fun to carry

Ideal: all actions should be functionally unfixed like this to the extent possible
