they don't need to be representative. They just need to take aim at the leadership/control positions of key institutions. Take down a dean and a professor and you've pwned an entire university for example.
Right, but the takedown wouldn't happen if the administration understood the difference between a spectacle where most people just want to see someone thrown to the lions and lots of actual concern about the issue at hand.
I've personally navigated more than one of these situations myself. It's about their fear of public perception & they need to know to what extent it really is "public" perception vs just a spectacle that will be forgotten about by Monday.
