RE: Coronavirus, indoors: The world needs revolution for indoor air exchange rates. This has historically been minimized to conserve energy. But with solar electricity, we have mid-day generation peaks mostly same time as thermal load. There’s gap in early evening, but workable.

A properly conditioned air envelope with fresh air should feel like outside on a nice day. Stale frigidity is a side-effect of poor HVAC governance. We don’t have to live like this. We can do better and be healthier. COVID19 only makes existing issues absolutely mandatory to fix.

The proliferation of smart-meters allows utilities to discount, or even provide for nominal cost, mid-day electricity when solar is at its highest output. The assumptions of static energy cost has shaped how we build and run our structures.
