The robotics era will truly begin the day universal access to painless euthanasia is recognized as a basic human right. With no more than a few “are you sure?” checks and a waiting period. The great tragedy of humans is that the average human is still worth something.

Ironic that in Futurama, it is Bender the robot who keeps trying to commit suicide. In some ways he’s the proto Rick of Rick and Morty. Not a genius but that same division-by-void nihilist exuberance.
