Kinda curious how “capitalism” as an ideal only exists in the heads of people opposed to it. The term points to a series of historic pseudo-equilibrium conditions that are unified only by being paths of least coordination resistance through their eras.
Compare with for eg Christianity. Even the least committed Christian has heard of the Bible. Communism is almost as strong.

Religion is as much a worldview and practices is it is tenets and creeds. (Indeed, it is more the former than the latter.) People can live under capitalism qua neoliberalism and not realize it. That ideology is so strong everyday people assume its misunderstandings to be final.

I'm not arguing from an anti-capitalist pov here, but an anti-neoliberal and pro-complexity economics position.
