Seemingly, most issues that befall normal people are more based on fundamentals: environment collapse, crop failure, plague, etc. Whereas countries rise and fall in more arbitrary ways - not that such dislocations don't heavily effect those populations, but not long-term.

As long as physical abundance continues to go on (and there's no reason to think it won't), we'll mostly be fine in the long-term, with some decade's long political battles to rebalance the lines of power.
