Longer blog posts sometimes have comments, or newsletters can be replied to, or you're in front of your computer when reading so you can tweet. Podcasts often listened to in different apps on mobile devices - more clicks/steps to figure out how to provide feedback.

Yes! It's difficult for creators to engage with listeners. I think spotify's push to own the space through exclusives is a negative for consumers, but if they succeed I hope we at least get some nice social features out of it.

Prediction: top in class will eventually migrate to producing full transcripts with some commenting function (maybe not open to all; but open to some subset of followers/listeners).

Stratechery is doing this now (though more accurately the podcast is a spoken version of the update) but commenting is not tied to pieces of the transcript yet
