The US constitution is probably the best example of an institution trying to coopt the subversive forces its very existence makes inevitable. Doesn’t quite work, but an interesting institutional ambition to shoot for.

It worked until the federal government was allowed to take power not granted it in the us constitution. 3 generations and everyone forgot why the document was written the way it was written.

Democratic Theory digs into that, esp about countries w/o written constitution (UK). I think of Democratic Systems as operating systems for countries. I think of American-style Republican Democracy as ver 1.0 of a weird evolutionary offshoot of democratic systems, like Win ME.
