Learned a lot about looting in the last 2 days. It’s semi-organized (groups of 3-4), mobile (fairly nice cars), tactically staged (parking in specific lots/side streets, approach/exit routes planned), opportunistic but with strong preferences. Emergent-coordinated (word of mouth)

DTLA and Fairfax were pretty mixed race from what I could see (former directly, latter on tv) and more opportunistic. Santa Monica seems dominantly black and much more organized.

Yesterday was Maxims in Fairfax, a premium shoe store. Today is Vans in Santa Monica. The looting spree I witnessed last night was Ross, low-end clothing.

There's a big market for reselling sneakers.
-
Not for one shoe. Most looters arent getting into the supply closets.

You ever hear of sneakerheads? Those people will pay a shit-ton of money for shoes
-
Those shoes are not just sitting there on display though, and if so...its only one shoe.

Shoes are a status symbol. This documentary claims that 1200 people die every year in shoe related violence :https://m.imdb.com/title/tt3240784/ …

Sounds crazy unless you’ve lived in America a few years
