1. Primitive phase. A movie/similar movies are successful for <insert favourite mass psychology theory/reason>. Others copycat chasing profits and the genre conventions are experimented on and distilled to the most catchy versions. Eg. Spider-man, X-Men, Iron Man.

2. Classical. Genre conventions/tropes are established and movies are pumped out like a machine. The "golden age" of the genre—and profits. Eg first act with cocky, smartass hero & intro of villain, second act rising stakes, third act big CGI army fight.
