A couple of years ago I had a mild obsession with Petrarch (1304-1374) , whose life had before/after black-death parts. He was 44 when it hit in 1348. I’m 45 now. Similar personalities in many ways. Globalist in a world that suddenly deglobalized. ribbonfarm.com/2017/11/30/pro

I just read whatever I enjoy, I don't think at all about carefully selecting anything. I don't seek out "classics". I think that's an unimaginative thing people do when they don't have any clear interests and use "classic" status to decide what's worth reading.

Your methods is in fact the right one. Just be an infovore. Don't worry about depth/shallow. Trust your instincts. It's not a competition or a demonstration of strength. If something really interests you, you'll find a way to read it in depth even if it's hard.
