remote consulting is hard. I've done most of my work remotely since 2018 - happy to read a draft.
my best scenarios are always 1-on-1 combining hands-on work (+even better with live collaboration) + some coaching/sparring

I'm not sure I have enough to say to pull together a draft yet haha. Looking for wisdom and advice...
I think coaching/sparring is definitely more friendly to remote - the work is scoped more clearly to 1:1 work.

Ah that’s why I didn’t resonate here. My work has always been 90% 1:1 remote sparring, 9% in-person, 1% group context (meeting observation etc)
Not counting workshop delivery stuff which is not really consulting and more like teaching

Yeah - I think the *right* answer is to radically re-scope future consulting gigs to look more like sparring/coaching. Full blown consulting is tough right now.... Not much help for client projects in-flight haha

You've touched on this a few times in your writing but would love a more detailed exploration of transition from consulting -> sparring. How to make it successful, how to sell it etc etc

I might have a “tachyon” problem here... never done much consulting that wasn’t sparring, so my indie career was born on the other side of this barrier mostly. I think I did 2 small projects in like 2012 that relied on a large team context... didn’t really enjoy the experience
maybe just exposing your workflow in more detail would be helpful? I've done some of both worlds but the sparring doesn't come as naturally and typically only happens *after* a more hands-on engagement...

Hmm... it’s more a slightly evil active listening practice than a workflow. If I had to teach it I’d teach it dojo style... get an even number of people into zoom, pair them up, and give them a role playing exercise. If there’s enough interest I can run one in
