Seldon checklist 1. Does your writing span at least 3000 BC to 3000 AD? 2. Can you explain why chaos wouldn’t make psychohistory impossible? 3. Do you have a paper idea for a prime radiant? 4. Do you have a dark-age-shortening plan? 5. Does your plan have inner/outer parts?

If not stop claiming Seldon status for yourself or Foundation status for your org. The bar is MUCH higher than you think. At best you/your org are a Seldon candidate/Foundation candidate. @EpsilonTheory is one of the few who has really tried to qualify. https://twitter.com/vgr/status/1255655431080312832?s=21 …https://twitter.com/vgr/status/1255655431080312832 …

Hari Seldon status for a person and Foundation status for an institution have to be earned by beating out other contenders in the foresight and history-shaping game by a ridiculously large margin, not labels to simply claim because you wrote one half-assed Big History essay.

I’m trying too, though on a more modest scale and along a different tack than Ben 🤓

By my more rigorous new standards, Thielverse does not qualify, though in 2016 I thought it might. https://twitter.com/vgr/status/757343946863292417?s=21 …https://twitter.com/vgr/status/757343946863292417 …

Hmm...Continuing mapping to Foundation, I don't think Trump is the mule, but Thiel could turn out to be. Now who's Chetter Hummin/R. Daneel?

I eventually mapped Trump to the demagogue in the last days of empire, Laskin “Jo Jo” Joranum. By that mapping, Thiel would be one of his backers. Trump as Mule doesn’t work. He’s a consequence of history, not a driver. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Foundation_series_characters#Laskin_Joranum …

A Mule figure would have to be more like Genghis Khan. Exploding from the margins to materially throw history off course.

But did he? What would have gone differently were it not for Genghis Kahn? His empire didn’t have a lot of staying power.

Khan, not Kahn. I’ll leave you to explore Wikipedia and speculate for that question.
