trolley problem:
- only 1 track
- 1% of people are on track, samaritans racing to free them
- 99% in trolley
- lever derails trolley and it starts rolling away
- undo lever can winch it back with falling probability as it rolls
- roll can turn into tumble killing 3% occupants

Or we could build more track now to solve for this and all future iterations of said false choice.

I'm a bit of a contrarian on this... I don't think this is a false choice because building out test-and-trace is not free in money or time... I should do a thread on this

I’m thinking track as health care capacity. Test and trace def won’t happen. But the choke points have to do with a health care system that can’t handle surges. Not enough PPE, ventilators, beds, access to insurance is gonna prevent saving covid infected and anyone else.

True, but that's why it's a choice. Long-term economic prospects don't matter if economy gets killed in the short term, irrecoverably.
