After a first very rough planning sketch of the view from my balcony, for a possible panoramic detailed drawing, I’ve kinda decided to give up (idea was to mimic the distorted panex option on iPhone). Too much work, too much detail.

So main challenge here is, if you’re sitting in a cuboidal balcony, and swing head left to right in a 180 degree arc, morphing perspective lines as you go, you’ll get these highly distorted curved perspective lines (red) as a frame for the view. Can’t get them right 🤬

Once upon a time I used to be good at this stuff. Never bothered to develop it. So now I just make the occassional janky cartoon.

Hmm... horizontal centerline/top of railing is probably curved wrong. It should be more like this. More of a fisheye though this isn’t really a fisheye perspective.

Curbing the top rail of the balcony suggests your eye is below it. The bottom should bow out more imo

To brag a bit..sketched this from memory. Spent 7 months staring out from this balcony over winter in Sorrento 2017-18

I remember Sorrento being really rainy. And cloudy.
Always made me think of Iowa. Just generally drab for half the year with a few punctuation marks here and there.
We were all sun starved because of the cliffs. Sorrento is on the wrong side. Go to Pos… bit.ly/2EVduZV

I take a lot of panoramas too tho as a way to consciously train myself to sketch in a wide perspective
