What exactly are jobless people doing while unemployment claims get sorted out? Running up credit card debt? Relying on family/food banks? do you know?
Iirc the median American has less than a few hundred in emergency funds

Good question. My read is that many of the most precarious have not filed (and in some cases are not eligible to file) unemployment claims; they're still working -- stocking shelves, delivering packages, picking fruit, packing meat, operating cash registers etc.
