Macabre thought, but if some small province in some country wanted to do a plebiscite and voted by a landslide to ignore the models and go full-blown anti-distancing (with sealed borders after an opt-out period where people could leave) it wouldn’t be a terrible thing.

None of the natural experiments has properly approximated this scenario, and it’s the modeled scenario every policy is steering around. A clear data point one way or the other would be high value, possibly at high human cost. Might be worth it if the vaccines fail.

There's a small tribe living an eight mile walk down the Grand Canyon. 14 day quarantine to enter.
