Random but I was thinking about this in the context of communities and movements: we've lost the concept of the 'independent cell' that's only connected to the org via its sergeant and become allergic to hierarchy in general.
I don't agree that people are allergic to hierarchy in general. Hierarchy provides stability which is much appreciated.
Single-sergeant mode is great for following instructions. E: on war frontlines, factory floors etc.
