I’m now at the google-voodoo-dolls stage of hating my neighbor with the loud music. Getting close to wishing Covid on all thumping-bass genre music fans who do not use headphones in situations where you can cause noise pollution. Worst case of neighbor-rage in my life 🤬🤬🤬

Ok just put on my wife’s noise canceling headphones and it cuts out most of it but this means it’s also harder to listen to my own TV. Luckily not really watching what on rn. She’s also more tolerant of ambient music than me. And still mad I have to be the one to adapt here.

I have found my tribe and my outgroup. All you loud non-headphone music listeners are assholes. I’m going to modify my kindness-to-all humanism to exclude you.

And yes I’ve escalated this in person and via email to management before. He’s now openly abusing covid lawlessness.

I have walked over to this guys door and knocked and asked him to turn it down twice before quarantine. He does for a bit then turns it up again. Apartment management is covid-awol.

He’s bigger than me and occasionally seems like he’s on meth or something. So not gonna risk a physical confrontation. Our balconies also are adjacent and the guy sometimes now plays a fucking boom box on his balcony in the daytime.

We’ve also heard him yelling loudly at his girlfriend one time she wanted to leave him or something (the walls are not that thin but he’s a really loud guy) which makes me suspect he might be abusive or something.

I plan to move in August. This guy is 2nd biggest reason. Biggest reason is place is too small for the rent, but if it weren’t, I’d still leave just to get away from him. Might say so to apt management once we’re out and leave them yelp bad review for not acting.

Two apartments ago, we left a large, cheap apt for other reasons but then too, Bad Neighbor was #2 and would have sufficed. Bad in different way and that time it was wife who got ragey about it. At least we’re not home owners who can’t move. Small blessings.

Interesting though that I’m not even considering any nasty tactics though it’s easy to think of them. I have boundaries. I only want civil-society resolutions of the matter, not Hobbesian ones.

one of my neighbors was complaining about our other neighbor's light industrial activity which regularly spoils the placid ambiance of our rural area the next day he fell off his roof
