It’s getting really hard to pretend that what the GOP has been doing for 4 years using Trump as a stalking horse is about the economy or business. That’s just the sales pitch to bait economic conservatives into supporting their actions. The goal has been largely social/cultural.

It’s been depressing to watch friends who are overindexed on the economy and underindexed on social/cultural policy make increasingly strained arguments that the sideshow is the main act and the main act a sideshow. Now in pandemic phase, even the subterfuge is being abandoned

A lot of people looking at the last few years of their careers and trying to cement legacies before they have to leave. An unprincipled leader who stokes chaos creates over for schemes. A true gift for them

I’m not sure what you’re saying. Is what you’re saying that economic conservatives have been duped by the social and cultural conservatives? That the social and economic conservatives are in the driver seat? Or is it the reverse?
