Statist syllogism (which I kinda agree with):
Public vs private is almost always big vs small in disguise
Some amount of Big is inescapable and necessary
Therefore some amount of Public is inescapable and necessary
Lemma: minimum inescapable-necessary Big > night watchman state

That’s my point... it’s a distinction without a difference, at large enough scale public and private look the same

I don't know. The difference is how to fund unprofitable, but socially useful stuff. The standard public-private partnership does have unique elements vs. public or private only models

Sure. I'm saying the distinctions don't matter as much as the scale. A small local public health office is very, very different from a local restaurant or startup. But Boeing is not that different from DoD.

Okay, maybe, where'd this thought come from? Is there anything you're referring to specifically?

I have opposite focus here, seems the core issue is that public orgs are running a human-centric fitness function poorly, whereas private sector runs a profit-centric one well. Our job being to create some synthesis of these systems. Maybe our concepts are orthogonal tho?
