Kinda interesting that the century of American globalization and the century of Chinese globalization both have a pandemic about 25 years in. I’d date the former to the 1893 Chicago world fair, and the latter to the death of Deng Xiaoping, 1997.
Others suggest according to their narrative appeal tastes. It’s inescapable, absent definitive information. The “everything originates in China” narrative is equally attractive to some.

Certainly not everything, but it does seem a particularly fecund region in terms of combinatory adaption at the viral scale.
