Have you already read The Great Influenza? https://amzn.to/2XevtUm I really enjoyed its discussion of how it shaped medical policy going forward and how the greatest momentum was caused when the children of rich people died.

Reading Pale Rider now, haven't read the others, so I can't compare, but it's good. About a third of the way through. Strength is more in interesting anecdotes than any big picture takeaways/conceptual frameworks.
