The sadness of all this starting to hit. Not just the immediate tragedy but the sense of the relatively happier world of the last few decades coming to an end. A sort of third age of middle earth coming to an end feeling.

That seems to go too far. It could just as easily be a tipping point to get us out of our post 9/11 rut and into a much better future. We're all going to have to come together as humanity to fight
#COVID19, so maybe we'll get good healthcare and less polarization out of it. -
I think a certain amount of depression is understandable, rational, and arguably adaptive. Optimism, too! But things are going to get a lot uglier before they get better, and tipping points don't always go the way you hope. I think the key is finding the right mix of both.
