The sadness of all this starting to hit. Not just the immediate tragedy but the sense of the relatively happier world of the last few decades coming to an end. A sort of third age of middle earth coming to an end feeling.

Oddly, despite the sense that part of this is payment for sins of sorts, the memory of the last era 1989-2019, hasn’t been poisoned for me. We did the best we could, sort of. This feels like a reminder that the human best is sometimes not good enough.

The tragedy of humanity is that there is no shared judgment day. There is only your own sense of reckoning with the events of your life.
